Buzz about the Talons' Beat Poetry

Jazz reviewer and poet Robert Carmack raves...

"The Talons are arguably the best of the new bands in the Bay area. With their roots firmly in the traditions of improvisational music and multi-cultural rhythms, you never get an empty canvas at their performances. The music conjures up the days of early War; and the depth of Osibisa & Mandrill of the '70s.

I loved performing my poetry with these Cats because they set it up so pretty for you to bring the Passion! Keep it Going, Fellas! "

Special Guest, MARK WRIGHT

Mark Wright, trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, arranger, has been an active part of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene for about 16 years. Mark frequently joins the Talons -- often performing his own compositions, but always adding his initimitable voice to their repetoire of standards and original music.

Strongly versed in the Jazz tradition early on, the Berkeley native studied music formally at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Pacific. Since then Mark Wright has headlined his own bands and performed with countless Jazz greats... from Clark Terry, Ray Charles, John Handy, Pharaoh Sanders, and Steve Turre to young lions Dave Ellis, Joshua Redman, and Don Carlos.
